FORK at Kelvingrove
Sat 12th April – Sun 11 May
Not Just a Load of Old Rubbish
From Saturday 12 April till Sunday 11 May, Friends of the River Kelvin will be the subject of an exhibition at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Look out for FORK in the communities’ exhibition area in the East Court of the ground floor, just to the right of Sophie Cave’s ‘Heads’. The exhibition is a must-see for all FORKs, as the winning entries of the 2007 Photography Competition will be on display. You can also admire artwork inspired by the Kelvin- textiles produced by Cardonald College students and some poems in unconventional media by Mandy Haggith. There will be evidence of FORK activities too – we think we can safely say that Glasgow’s favourite art gallery has never seen the like of the trolleyload of rubbish picked up at recent clean-ups. Tell your friends about the exhibition, or better still, bring them along. We hope it will be an enticing shop window for our activities and attract new members to join. The clean-up on Saturday 3 May will be nearby: we are hoping for a good turnout as there may be interest from visitors to the exhibition.

Cardonald College Art and Design
August
Following their successful project this year, with finished designs and textiles displayed as part of FORK’s exhibition at Kelvingrove, Cardonald College art and design students will come back to the riverside again in August. The College has now requested that we run this event every year. There will be two groups of students, 60 in total, coming to do drawings, take photos and then produce textiles inspired by the Kelvin.
