FORK’s Eco-Adventure programme

NOTE: This page is about the 2008 Eco-Adventure programme. No programme is planned for 2009

Wild By Nature, run by Cliff Giddings, is about to launch FORK’s first programme of eco-adventure activities. Wild By Nature will be affiliated to FORK and will provide eco-adventure activities on a voluntary basis and not for profit. A small contribution, however, is required, to ensure its future sustainability. Wild by Nature will share FORK’s premises at Ha’penny Bridge House. Provided this trial is a success it is planned to continue to offer a programme of exciting and interesting activities, as well as access to a range of outdoor equipment for FORK members to use, and to support FORK’s conservation projects. If you are a current FORK member who would like to get more involved in this exciting new development, please make that known by email (Click to reveal Email address) or speak to Cliff Giddings. This is a great chance to develop environmental awareness through adventure, to help the wider community, and to help FORK in its work of conserving our natural heritage.

The spring 2008 programme includes Bushcraft, Survival, Team-building, and Mountain Biking. See opposite for details.

To book and pay, use the contact page stating which activity you would like to attend OR call into Ha’penny Bridge House and place your name in the desk diary.

Participants must turn up suitably dressed for the activity, with any inhalers or medication they may need. All activities would appeal to those with just a modicum of fitness. Mountain bikers: you need to bring your bikes and helmets, and for the after-work sessions a torch is desirable. The minimum age is 10 years and all minors must be accompanied by a guardian/adult. Your FORK instructor will come with First Aid provision, will have up-to-date police disclosure, and will be suitably qualified and competent to run the activity. We can also provide a limited supply of gloves, woollen hats, warm tops, rucksacks, and waterproofs should you wish. All activities start and finish at Ha’penny Bridge House. A minimum of four people is required to ensure the activity runs. In the unfortunate event of an activity not running due to lack of numbers or weather conditions, you will of course get a full refund.

Contribution for after-work sessions (starting at 17.15): £10 Contribution for day sessions: £15 PLEASE BRING PROOF OF FORK MEMBERSHIP.

The proceeds will be shared equally between a fund to maintain the activity equipment and maintenance of Ha’penny Bridge House
