A WALK BY THE MILLS OF THE UPPER CLYDE

Following the Kelvin mills guided walk in January, Friends of the River Kelvin have been invited by Clydesdale Mills Society to join them for a guided walk through the Falls of Clyde gorge.

Starting at 10.30am from the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Falls of Clyde Visitor Centre, the day’s programme will include a gorge walk in the morning, followed by lunch at a café at New Lanark, and a visit in the afternoon to Carmichael Mill, Hyndford Bridge to see a workable watermill, the last meal mill on the Clyde.

There will be a small charge (as a donation to Clydesdale Mills Society), lunch will be paid for individually by each participant, and lifts will have to be arranged.

The Falls of Clyde Visitor Centre is open from 11am till 5pm (see www.swt.org.uk/visit/visitor-centres/falls-of-clyde-visitor-centre/).

As an alternative to the mill visit, you could visit the New Lanark Cotton Mills after lunch (www.newlanark.org/).

For Clydesdale Mills Society see www.theguidlife.net/groups/228

Places are limited so please contact me as soon as possible to reserve a place, and say if you can offer a lift to others.
